This class is for children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. Approximately 25 children of mixed ages, abilities, and backgrounds work together with clearly defined expectations.. They are guided to choose activities suited to their particular stage of development and are free to move about the room as they wish.

Our goal is to help children develop a love for learning as they work uninterrupted in the basic academic areas of language, mathematics, science and geography. Practical life activities also help children gain confidence as they use familiar materials to care for themselves and their classrooms. Experiences in art and music are also an important part of this rich curriculum.

We have 3 Children’s Houses at Frost Montessori; Children’s House 1, Children’s House 2 and Children's House 3. Each Children’s House is staffed with a certified Montessori trained teacher and an assistant.

Children’s House Arrival

School starts every morning (Monday-Friday) at 9:00 a.m. The doors of the school, however, open at 8:30 a.m. Children who arrive at 8:30 a.m. will go directly into their classrooms with their teacher. Parents are not permitted to enter the building until 8:30 a.m. and no child is to be left on the school premises before this time.

In the morning, please drive your car to the front door. A staff member will open the car door and walk your child into the building. You must remain with your child until you are met by a staff member. It is very important at arrival and dismissal that you remain seated in your car. If you need to get out of your car for any reason during arrival or dismissal, please park your car in the parking lot.

For the safety of your children and the security of the building, the school doors will be locked after 9:15 a.m. If you arrive after 9:15 a.m. you must park and walk in the building with your child, where a staff member will accompany your child to his or her classroom.

The Children’s Houses (½ day) will begin dismissal each day at 11:50 a.m. Therefore, our dismissal period is between 11:50 a.m. and 12:00 noon. The children will gather in the foyer and a staff member will meet you at your car with your child. Once your child is in the car, please pull up beyond the mailbox to buckle your child’s seat belt.

Extended-Day children (5-6 yr. olds) will be dismissed each day at 3:00 p.m.

Full-Day and O.U.T. progam children will be dismissed each day at 5:00 p.m (or before).
